Over 5,000 Arrowmen arrived on the first day of the conference. Some made a one hour trip, others were completing a five-day trek. These Arrowmen were from all 50 states, as well as from several foreign countries.
After departing their vehicles or arriving from the airport
shuttle, the Lodge Chief and Adviser left the rest of their contingent to
complete registration, which included turning in medical forms, receiving dormitory
room assignments, and being briefed on procedures by the registration staff.
While
the Lodge Chief and Adviser were completing registration, the rest of the Lodge
contingent attended meetings conducted by one of the four Region Chiefs. At the
meeting with their Region Chief, Arrowmen were informed of basic operations and
procedures. Scouts were informed of conference rules and regulations, dormitory
and transportation procedures, and the conference schedule.
Upon completion of the orientation meeting with the Region Chief, Arrowmen had time
to relax, stretch their legs and engage in fellowship with other Brothers from
across the nation. Many lodges had unique clothing items or formed small groups
to play games while the Lodge Chiefs and Advisers completed registration.
During the conference, events ranging from SCUBA diving to OA
Jeopardy will take place.
Lodge members had the opportunity to register for events of their choice in the
same area registration took place. Event competition will occur during the week.
All lodge contingents were also photographed as a group.
Arrowmen
were treated to the sound of the Brotherhood Band, composed of Arrowmen,
while registration was occurring. The Brotherhood Band will play at several
events during the week.
Upon completion of registration, Arrowmen left the registration area and went to their dormitories where they were able to unpack and settle in for the rest of the conference.
