SCUBA Adventure

Get ready to dive.

SCUBA was a very popular Extreme High Adventure event at NOAC 2000.  Participants who had pre-registered for the activity had a chance to learn how to scuba dive and find out for themselves what the bottom of the pool looked like.

The SCUBA activity consisted of three parts. Participants first took a 20-minute class on basic SCUBA techniques and safety. After this the Scouts went to the pool, where the next 20 minutes were spent learning how to put on the equipment and try using it in shallow water. Finally, the intrepid underwater explorers went to the deep end for 15 to 20 minutes of play and practice. For most, this was their first time using SCUBA gear, so the excitement was high. Many commented on how good the volunteer instructors were, and couldn't wait to try diving again.

Many thanks to the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) for volunteering their time and resources to give the Scouts who attended NOAC a chance to experience SCUBA.
