Q & A: Questions about the Band

Q: We have a number of questions about the NOAC Brotherhood Band:
1) Will participating in the band prevent training attendance?
2) Will the music be sent ahead of time to prepare before the conference?
3) Do band members need to arrive early?
4) Is there a place on the web to get info about the NOAC 2000 band?

A:
1) Participating in the NOAC band will interfere with some other activities at the conference. NOAC deliberately has many, many things occuring at the same time during the week. Participating in any one activity will prevent doing some other things. The band usually practices for about 1 to 1.5 hours each day, often in the morning. It plays before some of the shows, at the Founder's Day parade, and other events. Band members can attend some training, but may not be able to attend as much as non-band members.

2) The music is normally not sent out ahead of time, but provided on arrival.

3) NOAC Participants who wish to be a member of the band travel and check in with their lodge contingents. They do not arrive early because of their band involvement. (There are some NOAC support staff who work in the band who do arrive early.)

4) The NOAC 2000 band info is not available on the web site yet. (There is some information posted about the Band as it appeared at the 1998 NOAC; you can find it in the NOAC 98 Memories area of the National Events section of the web site, under the Tuesday Live Brotherhood Band and Chorus entry; and in the NOAC 1998 Planning information section, under the Activities Committee Band & Chorus entry.)
