What makes this NOAC so special?

The 2002 National Order of the Arrow Conference was chosen to be held at the University of Indiana for many reasons. The university is close to many airports and highways, but it also has a strong presence in our Brotherhood's history.

This will be the ninth time the conference will be held in Bloomington Indiana. The first appearence of the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service at IU was in 1948, at our first National Conference. That year we were also officially adapted as a program by the Boy Scouts of America, 1948 was a big year for our Order!

We returned to Indiana two years later. This conference was led by our first National Conference Chief, and this position was a forerunner of the current position of National Chief. We returned to IU again in 1956, 1961, 1965, 1969, 1990, and 1996.
