The Order of the Arrow is recruiting 700 youth Arrowmen to serve on the Project 2013 Corps at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree which includes the Jamboree OA Trek Guides, the OA Service Corps, and the Day of Service OA Crew Leaders.
The OA Service Corps will serve in many program areas at the jamboree including subcamps, action centers, the shows arena, national exhibits and other areas that need the support of service corps members. The OA Service Corps lives the obligation daily and represents the true meaning of leadership through cheerful service. The OA Service Corps members will be able to experience many areas of the jamboree. The corps will be structured like a lodge including leadership and chapters with adult advisers.
The Jamboree OA Trek is an all-day adventure beginning at the troop campsite where Scouts will embark on an exciting hike to the top of Garden Ground Mountain with interpretive program points along the way. Once at the top, Scouts will gather for lunch and will participate in games and demonstrations including the OA Indian Village and Buckskin Games. The day will conclude with a barbecue and bonfire, followed by a bus trip back to camp.
The Jamboree Day of Service is where each troop will participate in a day of service, either in the local community, in the National River and, perhaps, on the Summit site. The Order of the Arrow needs youth members to serve as Day of Service OA Crew Leaders to guide the Scouts during their Day of Service.
To participate in the Project 2013 Corps, Arrowmen must meet the following criteria.
At the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference, there will be special half day training for those participating in Project 2013. This half-day event will focus on preparing the Project 2013 Corps for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree and will include inspirational guest speakers and training. Arrowmen will be able to register for the Project 2013 Corps training online through the NOAC registration system beginning April 1, 2012.
Arrowmen may indicate their interest in serving on the Project 2013 Corps at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree by filling out the online interest form available here. Special email updates will be sent to interested corps members and will be notified when the online NOAC registration is available.
