American Indian Activities
The National Order of the Arrow Conference offers many opportunities for Arrowmen
to experience and participate in the American Indian culture during the conference
with the American Indian Activities area. The program that the American Indian
Activities staff provides are not just for experienced dancers and singers but also
for those Arrowmen whom are looking to start a new craft or hobby. The staff
provides training classes from beginning dancing to outfit construction to classes
on different crafting techniques such as beading and quillwork. Even if you
are not interested in dancing but would like to start a dance or drum team within
your lodge there are classes that will cover those topics as well.
For those Arrowmen who are more experienced and want to compete in the national
dance competition dance styles such as Northern Traditional, Old Style, Grass, Fancy,
Chicken and Straight Dance, NOAC is that chance. With competitions
in every style dancers can come and spend the day competing and have their outfit
evaluated from past champions and judges as well. There will be a team dance
competition and drum competition where lodges can compete against other from across
the Nation.
With all the chances to learn, create new crafts, dance, and bond with Brothers
from across the nation, there will be plenty to do within the American Indian Activities
at the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference.
