Centennial Festival to begin after conferencewide service project

PreviousNext

By Brandon Kelly

After giving back in cheerful service to Michigan State University this morning, Arrowmen will have the opportunity to gather in brotherhood at the Centennial Festival. Starting at 11:30 a.m., The Hub will have an expanded offering of activities, including three stages for musical performances and lodge program displays.

Scheduled performances include the “NOAC’s Got Talent” winner, the Killer Flamingos, Global Village and more. In addition to the onstage performances, there will be roaming performances as well. Each lodge has been asked to have a display highlighting a program that has been influential and beneficial to the lodge. Arrowmen are encouraged to visit these displays throughout the festival.

“The Centennial Festival is meant to celebrate the Order’s last 100 years and springboard us into our next 100 years,” said Nick Goldrosen, the youth lead for the event. “Every lodge is bound to leave with ways to improve.”

As lodges help one another by sharing information about what works in their lodge, Arrowmen will still be able to participate in The Hub’s activities such as the Centennial Fire and the legacy tent.

“Arrowmen will receive a lot of free things and they’ll have a lot of conversations but programs still need to be applied in order to work,” commented Goldrosen. “The Centennial Festival is a spark.”

  1. Getting to the Stadium: If you’re staying in a dorm other than Wilson, Wonders, Holden, and Case, you should proceed to Gate K on the north side of Spartan Stadium on your own. Doors open at 8:30 AM. If you are staying in Wilson, Wonders, Holden, or Case, you will be evacuated to the stadium by MSU Police Department at 9 AM. All guests, except for your two (2) members setting up the Starting Point booth, must attend the stadium program. Staff who do not have program responsibilities that morning should also attend. Plus, there’s a special giveaway for the first 10,000 people!
  2. Once We’re At the Stadium: We’ll have an exciting program with the official conference photograph, a card stunt, remarks from our national officers, and a special keynote speaker, an Eagle Scout and TV personality.
  3. Evacuating the Stadium: MSU PD will give instructions in the stadium for an orderly and safe evacuation. Following the stadium evacuation, guests and staff will proceed to one of three rally points. Those housed in the Brody Complex or any of the north residence halls (including the halls along the river, such as Snyder, Philips, and Shaw) will proceed to Munn Field. Those housed in the south halls (Holden, Wilson, Wonders, and Case) will proceed to Wilson. Those housed in the east halls will proceed to Ralph Young Field.
  4. Getting to the Hub: At each rally point, MSU will distribute boxed lunches. Spark touch points will also be located at each rally point. Once MSU PD declares the drill over, they will release each site to the Hub. Those at Munn and Ralph Young Fields will enter from the north and east; those at Wilson will enter from the east and south. Food will not be available at the Hub; all guests and staff must get food from one of the rally points.
  5. At the Hub: The afternoon will feature silk screening, lodge Starting Point booths showcasing best practices from around the nation, live music and circus performances, and other special opportunities such as sash signing with the national officers. The Centennial Festival is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to kick off the Order’s next century!
