NESA soars high at NOAC

NESA Eagle

By Reese Wamsley

The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) is hosting numerous events throughout the week to educate and entertain all NOAC attendees.

Three main events are being hosted by NESA this week. NESA has an exhibit at the Hub where guests can learn about “all things Eagle.” NESA is hosting the Gathering of Eagles Thursday evening, an invite-only event for all Eagle Scouts. NESA is also doing several training sessions throughout the week that you can still sign up for here at NOAC. During the Centennial Festival, NESA will have a booth that will feature a live bald eagle.

Arrowmen visiting the NESA’s booth at the Hub can chat with NESA staff with extensive knowledge about the Eagle Scout award and those who have earned Scouting’s highest rank. Arrowmen can learn about the process of earning their Eagle Scout. Arrowmen can also learn about how to become a NESA member as well as information about their yearly scholarships.

At the centennial celebration, NESA will have another booth dedicated to all things Eagle. Many of the same great information found at the main booth at the Hub will be included. As a special feature, the Howel Nature Center will be bringing a live bald eagle for guests to interact and take photographs with.

The Gathering of Eagles is a premier event put on by NESA at NOAC this year. The event is being held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the Munn Ice Arena. “The NESA @ NOAC crew has been working really hard to make sure that Eagle Scouts have an important responsibility to mentor younger scouts who are still traveling the trail to Eagle,” said NESA @ NOAC CVC Daniel Burton. This event will be the largest Gathering of Eagles ever and will feature many inspirational speakers. Event participants can show up to the ice arena before the gathering starts for some fun activities too. Every Eagle Scout at NOAC should have gotten a ticket from their contingent leaders. If you have not gotten your ticket, you can stop by the NESA office in room 104B of the Kellogg Center.

Burton said that the NESA crew hopes to instill the theme “It Starts With Us” into every visitor that attends their training sessions and booth. Be sure to Spark at these locations as well and talk to other Eagle Scouts about their journeys.
