Explore the rich history of the Order of the Arrow by checking out the Goodman Edson Observatory (GEO) to explore the valuable history of the Order.
The GEO is the OA’s traveling museum, offering a deep look into the timeline of the Order of the Arrow’s past. In the museum, visitors can explore the origins of ceremonial principles such as Nutiket, Kichkinet, Meteu, and Allowat Sakima, as well as a recreation of the original induction ceremony. You can also learn about the enduring contributions of Arrowmen to national high adventure bases through the OA High Adventure program and see a replica of the OA Summit Circle at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.
“It’s good to look into the past to see what we have become,” Jack P. of Nisqually Lodge, Pacific Harbors Council, shared after going through the GEO.
Most importantly, the museum shows an in-depth view of the Order’s exponential growth into what it is today, with a special focus on the OA’s milestone anniversaries, and how NOAC became a premier national event.
“The museum showed a cool variety of history that I had frankly never seen before,” said Cooper S. of Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont Lodge, Allegheny Highlands Council.
The GEO is only open for one more day, so make sure to stop by the GEO in the University Memorial Center. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with the rich legacy of the Order of the Arrow, see how far we’ve come, and be inspired to take the OA into the future!
