| Registration ProcessAll registration for ArrowCorps5 will be completed by paper forms
that will be mailed into the national office. All Arrowmen must register for
ArrowCorps5 through their local councils if they wish to participate
in this once-in-a-lifetime service event. The information below is directed to
local councils and lodge leadership and was mailed to your local council
offices at the of September. Whether you plan to attend an ArrowCorps5
site with members of your lodge contingent or not, you still must have all your
registration materials sent in through your local council. Contact your lodge
leadership for more information on how to register locally. Be sure you contact
your lodge leadership and give them your $100 deposit per person, per site well
before the February 1, 2008 registration deadline. Below you will find links to information about the registration process and some
of the forms that were mailed to the local councils to help you in planning
				your ArrowCorps5 experience.

 Subject: ArrowCorps5 Project
It is my pleasure to introduce an exciting historical opportunity for the Boy
Scouts of America to exercise leadership in service to our nation's forests.
The Order of the Arrow's 2008 program of emphasis - ArrowCorps5 - is
a joint effort between the OA and the U.S. Forest Service ("USFS") to provide
much needed work at five USFS sites across the country, work that would
otherwise go undone. The USFS sites range from Mark Twain in Missouri, Manti-La
Sal in Utah, George Washington and Jefferson in Virginia, Shasta Trinity in
California and Bridger-Teton in Wyoming. Planning for this project has been
underway for almost three years. The ArrowCorps5 Project Reservation Information packet is enclosed.
Please review this information carefully with your lodge chief and lodge
adviser, assure the youth and adult Contingent Coordinators are appointed by
October 15th, and take an active role in promoting and encouraging your
lodge membership to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event. With the
theme Five Sites, Five Weeks, Five Thousand Arrowmen - the
ArrowCorps5 project will be the largest single service project in
the history of the Boy Scouts of America and promises to inspire Arrowmen to
greater service in your council. ArrowCorps5 is just the type of creative outdoor program envisioned
by [the Boy Scouts of America's] 2006-2010 Strategic Plan. As we approach the
BSA's 100th anniversary, this project presents a unique opportunity to showcase
the timeless values expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law, provides greater
visibility to our outdoor program and desire to protect the environment, and
serves as an excellent starting point as we begin developing collaborative
relationships and strategic alliances with other organizations. Finally,
councils that meet the Trailblazer program requirements will receive special
recognition at the 2008 annual meeting in San Diego, California. Please join me in promoting and supporting the ArrowCorps5 project. Robert J. MazzucaChief Scout Executive

Who can Attend?Youth and adult Arrowmen who are registered members of the Boy Scouts of America
and have their council's approval, are eligible to participate in ArrowCorps5.
Participants must meet the Philmont height and weight guidelines listed in the
reservation brochure. Youth members must be at least 14 years of age by June 1,
2008. All participants must register as a member of their local council contingent
or be a member of an ArrowCorps5 project site staff. An Arrowman may
sign up for as many sites as they wish on a first come, first serve basis. Although there are no limits or ratios on youth to adult participation, youth
involvement is highly encouraged. Every contingent attending an ArrowCorps5
project must have two-deep adult leadership including provisional contingents
that have Arrowmen from two or more councils. Back to top

What is the Fee to Attend? The ArrowCorps5 fee is $250.00 per site for participants who pay
their fee by May 1, 2008 (postmark date). Fees paid after May 1, 2008 will be
$300.00. All late fees must be received by the OA Director no later than May
31, 2008. The fee includes eight days of program, 20 meals, safety equipment,
insurance coverage, recognition items and a full day of recreation.

How are Reservations Submitted? The enclosed Council Contingent Coordinator Appointments (Form A) is your
council’s initial reservation to participate in the 2008 ArrowCorps5
service program. The completed form should indicate who the youth and adult
coordinators are for the council, along with an estimated number of
participants planning to attend ArrowCorps5 (Your estimate
neither commits the council nor secures ArrowCorps5 spaces).
The form is to be forwarded to the national OA office by November 15, 2007. To lock in the ArrowCorps5 spaces desired, each council must complete
the enclosed Council Deposit Transmittal (Form B) accompanied with a
non-refundable $100.00 per participant, per site deposit by February 1,
2008. No individual reservations will be accepted. All
sites will be filled on a first come, first serve basis, so councils
are encouraged to register and send in their deposits early. There are only
1,000 spaces per site available. All payments must be transmitted through the local council office and
accompanied by a transmittal form. Cancellation and Refund Policy The $100.00 per-person deposit is transferable to a substitute within the same
council on a one-for-one basis but it is non-refundable, and may not be applied
to the balance due for another person. Participants canceling their reservation
after May 31, 2008 will forfeit their entire ArrowCorps5 fee. Back to top

How do We Get to the Site? The responsibility of transporting participants to project sites safely rests
with the council contingent coordinators. Depending on the size of each
contingent and project site selections, several councils may want to arrange
transportation together, such as carpooling or renting a bus. Specific
information on how participants not traveling with their council contingents
can attend will be released through the ArrowCorps5 website. Transportation
from major airports to project sites will be made available for a small fee. Back to top

Where will We Stay?ArrowCorps5 participants will be camping in or near their project
sites and will need to bring their own tent and sleeping gear. Once registered,
participants and staff will be sent a list of necessary items to bring for the
site(s) they are attending. The ArrowCorps5 website will also
provide information about programs that will be offered at each project site.
This will include information about recreational opportunities, special events,
religious services, opening and closing campfires, and special guests. Back to top

How do I Submit My Trading Post Order? All participants, staff and non-participants will be required to pre-order their
ArrowCorps5 merchandise through the Trading Post Portal on
www.oa-bsa.org. Unique ArrowCorps5 merchandise will be available for
ordering after January 1, 2008. All items will be shipped to both participants and non-participants after April
15, 2008 and in time for your ArrowCorps5 adventure. After placing
an order, Scouts and Scouters should print a copy of their order. Back to top

Staff ApplicationsAll Arrowmen interested in being considered for an ArrowCorps5staff
assignment must complete the Staff Application online, print, and mail to the
Incident Commander of the site(s) they are interested in staffing. A staff
member hoping to serve at more than one site should submit a separate
application for each site. (Incident Commander contact information will be
provided on the application.) All staff registrations must be
received by February 1, 2008 by the Incident Commanders. Once approved by the Incident Commander, staff members will be notified by the
national office and mailed a Staff Fee Transmittal. This form serves as
confirmation of your appointment to staff an ArrowCorps5 site.
Assistant squad leaders must be at least 16 years of age and squad leaders must
be at least 18 years of age by June 1, 2008. All other staff members must be 21
years of age or older by June 1, 2008. Scout Executive approval is
mandatory for all ArrowCorps5 staff applicants. Click to download and fill out the staff application [PDF] Back to top
